ARCHIVED - 700 Christmas trees will bring festive cheer to Murcia shops
The city council presents Murcia traders’ association with hundreds of trees to decorate shops over the Christmas period
Seven hundred fir trees will adorn shops in Murcia city as part of a Christmas campaign to attract locals and visitors and give traders a welcome boost.
The festive campaign has been organised by the Murcia Council’s Department of Districts and Neighbourhoods in partnership with the Department of Employment, Shops and Markets and traders’ associations.
“The aim of this initiative is to boost local trade by bringing Christmas to the shops in Murcia city. This is a sector that has been hit particularly hard by the effects of the pandemic and is gradually recovering. We want to continue helping as much as possible,” said Councillor for Employment, Trade and Markets, Juan Vicente Larrosa.
A total of 700 Nordmann fir trees will be distributed amongst the traders’ associations of Algezares (141); Beniaján (84 trees); Cabezo de Torres (67); El Palmar (38); La Alberca (22); Llano de Brujas (44); Puente Tocinos (65); Sangonera La Verde (39); Alquerías (40); Javalí Viejo and La Ñora (36); Zarandona (20); Los Garres and San José de la Vega (85); and El Esparragal (19).
