ARCHIVED - Aguilas launches Coastal Eco-school campaign to educate children about caring for the environment
The initiative returns to the town on Murcia's south coast after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic
Águilas has launched its annual Coastal Eco-school Project after a two-year absence due to Covid, an initiative aimed at educating children about the importance of caring for the environment.
The extra-curricular campaign is steered towards 3rd and 4th grade students enrolled at local schools where they can sign up voluntarily and free of charge next month.
"After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, we are resuming this project which aims to strengthen the relationship between students and the natural environment, paying special attention to the practice of nautical sports activities," explained Councillor for Education, Francis Gallego.
"We intend to transmit to our students the love and enjoyment of the enormous possibilities that our coastline offers. In short, to highlight the value of our spectacular environmental conditions," she added.
The initiative, a collaboration between the Town Council and the Águilas Nautical Club, aims to raise awareness amongst pupils of the municipality's natural and cultural heritage through visits and excursions.
