ARCHIVED - 50,000 euros donated for flood repairs and enlargement of Los Alcázares infant school
The Reale Foundation helps Los Alcázares to recover from the disastrous flooding
The Reale Foundation, part of one of the largest insurance groups operating in Spain, has announced that it will be making a donation of 50,000 euros to restore, repair and refurbish the municipal infants’ school of Los Alcázares after the damage it suffered during the “gota fría” storm which caused widespread flooding in the Costa Cálida, and in particular the coastline of the Mar Menor, in mid-September.
At the same time, the centre will also be enlarged in order to enable it to welcome more pupils in the future, connecting it to the former Escuela de Música to create more space.
Mario Cervera, the Mayor of Los Alcázares, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the entire municipality, adding that while the town is suffering greatly “it is also becoming aware of the solidarity of all kinds of organizations and institutions which are making it possible to gradually overcome these difficult times.”
Speaking on behalf of the Reale Foundation, Pilar Suárez-Inclán explained that within the funds set aside for sustainable development projects there is an amount earmarked for emergencies, and that when Joaquín Menárguez, the company’s representative in Los Alcázares, suggested the infants’ school project the management had no hesitation in giving its approval.
