ARCHIVED - Normal service resumed after fire at Alicante-Elche airport
Flights are no longer being diverted to the Region of Murcia International Airport in Corvera
Normal service has almost been resumed on Friday morning at the airport of Alicante-Elche following the fire which caused the evacuation of the terminal building on Wednesday afternoon and the suspension of flights for almost 24 hours, and as a result the sudden burst of activity at the Region of Murcia International Airport in Corvera, where many flights were diverted on Wednesday and Thursday, has come to an end.
In spite of this, passengers booked to travel to or from Alicante are still advised to check with their airline before setting out that their flights are being operated as scheduled.
Aena report on Friday morning that the disruption to services caused the cancellation or diversion of a total of 199 flights, and that during Thursday and Friday a total of 148 flights landed or took off at Alicante-Elche while 85 were diverted to Corvera and another 21 to the airport of Manises in Valencia.
