ARCHIVED - Biker bliss at San Javier Hot Rally September 17 and 18
Thousands of bikers will descend on San Javier this weekend
September is usually a time for enjoying outdoor activities and taking advantage of the cooler autumn weather, but this year events which are normally major crowd-pullers have been scaled back to prevent large crowds creating the opportunity for close Covid contacts.
However, life must also go on and so the organisers of the San Javier Hot Rally have limited attendance at the organised concerts and activities within this annual biker gathering to just 1500 people, and as the tickets have been fully allocated to bikers travelling to the event, the public will have a fairly limited experience this year if they decide to go along.
The concentration, which is bringing about 4,000 people, arriving from all over Spain and other countries will begin on the afternoon of Friday 17 with the opening of the motorcycle market (tat, t-shirts and biker bits) and the leisure area in the Barnuevo esplanade ( with the application of the corresponding covid regulations) although the general public can visit these areas.
The concerts are taking place in the San Javier fairground (Recinto Ferial) and can only be accessed via a tickets system, but with all spaces already allocated, the public will be unable to enter this year.
However, this event always attracts thousands of bikers, who park their newly cleaned and polished bikes as publicly as possible so that they can be admired by the public and fellow bikers, so all those who enjoy drooling over bikes can spend a pleasurable couple of hours café-hopping, enjoying the assembled array of gleaming chrome and fantasising about having a mid-life crisis which features one of these bikes.
On Saturday September 18 at 5:30 p.m. the assembled riders will drive through the streets of San Javier en-masse.
