ARCHIVED - Covid incidence rate in Murcia rose by 20 percent in the last week
The rate has risen back over the 50 cases per 100,000 of population mark
After three weeks of good figures the Covid-19 cumulative incidence rate in the Region has increased by 20 per cent during the last week, to return to 50.5 across the last 14 day period, per 100,00 of population.
The figure for the last seven day period is 27.3, which indicates that the figure is rising. (If doubling the seven day rate gives a higher figure than the 14 day rate then the incidence is rising as the rate in the last seven days is higher than in the preceding seven days).
Murcia remains one of the Spanish regions with the lowest data.
The figures presented on Monday relate to Sunday, which is always a non-typical day and inevitably reports the lowest figures for the week.
Only 11 new cases were diagnosed on Sunday, of which 4 are in Murcia and 3 in Cartagena, one in Lorca, one in Torre Pacheco, one in Ceuti and one in Calasparra, taking the overall total since the pandemic began to 114,101.
This leaves the total number of active cases in the region at 426, of which 401 are mild cases and the patients are in home isolation.
25 people remain in hospital, 10 of them in intensive care, an improvement when compared to the 30 hospitalized on Friday.
There was one fatality on Sunday, an 87-year-old man from the north-west health area, taking the total number of fatalities up to 1607.
This week the regional health authorities intend to administer 130,000 vaccines, some of which will be amongst the 35-39-year old group.
The regional health authorities are maintaining the same restrictions as last week, the most important of which is limiting the size of a group gathering to ten people, either inside or out.
