Escaped immigrants
5 of the 70 immigrants who arrived illegally in the region via small boats in the last couple of days have now tested positive for Covid and 40 of them have been put in enforced quarantine by order of the regional health service. They will be taken from a temporary marquee in Cartagena harbour to the El Valle Albergue in the El Valle park near to Murcia City where migrants in quarantine are being temporarily housed.
Meanwhile, six of the migrants who escaped from the marquee last night have been detained and three are still missing.
The Mayoress of Cartagena today requested that the Government Delegate resign due to his handling of the situation. He defended his position saying that the situation was complex due to the closure of the migrant transfer centre.
