Seven years after the Town Hall of Águilas requested the construction of a roundabout at the junction of the RM-D14 and RM-D15 roads on the way out of town towards Calabardina and Marina de Cope, the regional government of Murcia has finally included the project in its budget for next year.
A total of 600,000 euros has been set aside for the roundabout, which will ease traffic problems on a road which is especially busy during the summer months, when many cars make their way to and from Águilas from the motorway exit at kilometre 866 of the AP-7. Mayoress Mari Carmen Moreno reports that the necessary cessions of land are already in place and that the works project has already been drawn up, suggesting that further delays are relatively unlikely.
Once completed, the roundabout will make it feasible for the Town Hall to tarmac the road surface on the cycle lane which leads from Águilas to Calabardina, a job which has been waiting for this project to be completed first.
