Free guided cultural tour of Mazarrón
10:00 English language
12:00 Spanish language
This free guided cultural visit of the principal historical locations of the Puerto de Mazarrón is in English.
The tour visits the Roman Salt Fish Factory museum, which is built over the site of a factory formerly used by the Romans to produce salty fish sauces (Garum) which were exported throughout the Roman Empire, as well as the Phoenician boat Interpretation Centre, which focuses on the period prior to the Roman occupancy of this area when Phoenician traders visited Mazarrón to trade raw materials and finished products throughout the Mediterranean basin. In Mazarrón they left behind two important wrecks, one a complete vessel, and this is the subject of the visitor centre.
Please note: own transport is required for transportation between the sites visited. The tourist office also requires proof of ID when booking, ie passport or ID card.
Booking is essential; Call the tourist office on 968 594 426, or click Mazarrón Tourist Office to contact via email.
