Search for body of man drowned at Málaga golf course water hazard
The Guardia Civil's underwater unit have been looking for the body of the victim, who could not swim
A tragic workplace accident has occurred in Vélez-Málaga, where a worker lost his life after falling into a water reservoir at the Caleta de Vélez golf course. Initial investigations suggest that the man did not know how to swim, which contributed to the fatal outcome.
Emergency services were alerted at around 9am when a witness contacted the Andalusian emergency service, 112, reporting that a person was drowning. The worker had reportedly fallen into the water while operating a mowing machine.
The emergency coordination centre immediately mobilised local police, national police, fire brigade and medical services. Additionally, a diving unit from the Special Group of Underwater Activities (GEA) of the Guardia Civil in Malaga was deployed to recover the body from the water.
Authorities are continuing their investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
