The marina of Los Nietos (Mar Menor)
Puerto Deportivo y Club Náutico Los Nietos
The marina of Los Nietos provides over 400 mooring berths on the south-western shore of the Mar Menor, at coordinates 37º 39 17 N, 00º 47 05 W (UTM ED50-RE 50/92, X: 695650 Y: 4169718) (see map). The maximum length of boat catered for is 14 metres, with a maximum draft of 2 metres.
The marina is located offshore, with the four main jetties forming a 25,500-square-metre rectangle inside which three more floating jetties are located. It is accessed from the mainland by a short bridge, and alongside it is a sailing and watersports academy. The facilities include lifting crane, launch ramp, car parking, showers, restaurant and bar. The beach of Los Nietos extends to either side of the marina.

The Club Náutico is an important part of the sporting and social life of Los Nietos, and the marina was first proposed by a group of around 80 holidaymakers in the summer of 1952. Construction began the following year and was completed in the summer, but the current building which is home to the club dates from much later, and replaced the original wooden structure.
Sailors from Los Nietos have achieved considerable success in national and international regattas, and the current installations include honours boards recording important victories achieved both in the Mar Menor and elsewhere.
Visitors are welcome to stroll around the marina and enjoy refreshments in the café bar from 9.00 to 14.00 and 16.00 to 19.00 in summer and from 9.00 to 14.00 for the rest of the year.
