ARCHIVED - Two injured as vehicle ploughs down embankment on the AP-7 in San Javier
The vehicle left the road at speed and crashed into pine trees on the embankment
Two people were injured on Sunday afternoon after a spectacular accident in which their vehicle left the AP-7 motorway, as it passed through San Javier, and fell down an embankment.
The accident occurred at just after 4 in the afternoon when 112 received several calls informing that other drivers had seen a car "flying away" from the highway and tumbling down the slope alongside the road, where it had crashed into pine trees at the roadside.
Guardia Civíl, firefighters and several ambulances attended the call-out. The three occupants of the vehicle were able to leave the wreckage unaided but two of them - a 58-year-old woman and a man, whose age has not been provided - had to be treated by health workers and were taken to the Los Arcos hospital with injuries of varying degrees.
No indication has been given as to the cause of the accident.
