Águilas revamps rubbish collection service with new bins and trucks

600 new side-loading bins will be installed, many of which are adapted for residents with reduced mobility

With the aim of upgrading its waste collection service, Águilas Town Council has unveiled a comprehensive plan to install 600 new side-loading bins on streets throughout the municipality.

The user-friendly rubbish containers are equipped with Braille signage for visually impaired residents, and 10% of the bins have been adapted with handles to make them easier to open for individuals with reduced mobility.

The process of replacing the current containers will begin on Monday April 7 and will be carried out gradually, replacing entire collection routes at a time.

This initial phase is expected to be completed within two months, after which the deployment of 200 new organic waste containers will begin. These specialised bins will have brown lids and Braille signage, while 10% will have a pouring hole for easy food disposal.

To further improve the service, the council will introduce five state-of-the-art collection trucks with a 25m³ capacity and eight new staff members will also be hired, ensuring a more efficient service.

This modernisation initiative underscores Águilas Town Council's commitment to sustainability, accessibility and excellent service.

Shuttle bus connecting Corvera Airport with key destinations, launching May 2025

Airport Buses Murcia Airport transfer service

Starting on May 22, 2025, Airport Buses will launch a daily shuttle transfer service connecting the Region of Murcia International Airport with key destinations across Murcia, southern Alicante and Almería, every time there is a direct flight between Corvera Airport and a destination in the UK or Ireland, plus selected European flights.

Three initial routes will serve:

La Manga route: Murcia Airport, Cabo de Palos, Playa Honda, Capfun, Mar de Cristal, Los Belones, La Manga Club, Cartagena and La Manga Strip (€12.99-€19.99/adult each way)
Torrevieja route: Murcia Airport, Torre Pacheco, Las Terrazas de La Torre Golf Resort, La Torre Golf Resort, Roldan, ONA Mar Menor Golf Resort, Los Alcázares, Los Narejos, San Javier, Santiago de Ribera, Lo Pagán, San Pedro de Pinatar, Pilar de Horadada, Campoamor, La Zenia, Playa Flamenca, Mil Palmeras, Cabo Roig and Torrevieja (€8.99-€19.99/adult each way)
San Juan route: Murcia Airport, Condado de Alhama, Camposol, Mazarrón Country Club, Puerto de Mazarrón, Mazarrón, Águilas, Calarreona, San Juan de los Terreros and Mar de Pulpí (€13.99-€25.99/adult each way)

Airport Buses aims to offer affordable, reliable transport while considering future expansions, including routes to Alicante Airport and additional stops across Murcia.
